About the JMT

The John Muir Trail (JMT) is one of the most spectacular hiking trails in the High Sierra.  The northern terminus of the JMT is at Happy Isles in Yosemite National Park, California and 211 trail miles to the south is the southern terminus at Mt. Whitney.  Mt. Whitney, elevation 14,492 feet, is the highest mountain in the lower 48 states.  The JMT shares many miles with the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT).  Hiking the JMT would be a great way to experience a small part of the PCT.

The PCT is a 2,655 mile trail that starts on the Mexican Border and goes through California, Oregon, Washington and terminates at the Canadian border.  Learn more about the PCT here.  Hiking the JMT would be a great way to start your long distance hiking experience.
